Try to PSICOBLOCK, climb up without ropes and fall in the lagoon if you need.
This is a truly special place and is also one of the waterfalls closest to your Huaira cabin. The lagoon is 12 meters deep in it's deepest spot and the double waterfall has about a 10 meters. On the upper lagoon there is a place where there is a PSYCOBLOCK rock wall. That means that you can climb until you just fall in the water, no ropes needed. Overlooking the lagoon on the steep river banks the condor and the eagles have their "apostadero" and sometimes look at us playing in the water. DURATION : 3-4 hours, medium difficulty
Once at the Lagoon, keep exploring upriver. Run into incredible sculptures made by water during millions of years. Dozens of waterholes and waterfalls to jump in. On the hike you will not run into anybody, your privacy is guaranteed, nobody will interrupt your magical experience. DURATION: 5-6 hours, medium difficulty
Hike down the creeks and into the Quebracho forest to finally arrive at the most incredible river in Cordoba, barely known and with limited access. The water is so clean that you can swim-and-drink. Trouts are also visible. There is a lagoon that stretches almost 1000 feet, and about 100 in width, and has a sandy bottom and a waterfall that spill into it. Every individual that joins the hike needs to be in good physical shape. The area you will be entering is where the puma and wild boards live together with a wide variety of animals and flora that is associated with a pristine environment like this one! We usually require 2 guides for this mini-expedition due to the nature of the location. DURATION: 1 FULL day (Optional: Overnight expedition, the gem of the hikes!!)
Bring the binoculars to see upfront a three meter wide soaring bird, the Condor Andino. Also in the area you will be able to see the eagles, hawks, all the way down in size to mountain humming bird. A special hike can be requested to visit the condors nests in Characato.
We can bring you paragliding in Characato, a newly discovered soaring hill that is in the testing phase but promises thermic and dynamic wind potential. It's only 15 kms away from Killa Machalo. The launch is near a great cliff where Condors nest. Fly a thermal together with a 9 foot condor. Tandem flights (you and an instructor) also can be arranged, please reserve with plenty of time.
The land is vast, share your journey with a docile horse that will bring you wherever you want. Ride on his back with care and he will enjoy the walk as well. Ride along the paths down to the river, intertwine your trip alongside a stream, ride high up the tallest hills where the vegetation is low and the ride is smooth. Let one of our staff lead you to a specific location or waterfall, or you might want to ride free nearby your Huaira lodge.
